why dunia?
Rooted in culture. Committed to community.Dunia Consulting LLC is a registered business in the State of Ohio and holds a current Certificate of Good Standing. We’re proud to serve local institutions with transparency, compliance, and cultural integrity.Dunia means “world” in Swahili — a word deeply dear to me.
It echoes across Arabic-influenced languages and speaks of movement, trade, and shared belonging.
For me, Dunia is more than a name — it’s a promise to uplift global voices right here at home. It’s also an acronym — a guide to who I serve:D – Districts
U – Universities
N – Nonprofits
I – Institutions
A – AgenciesI help these organizations grow language equity, improve community connection, and lead with cultural humility — especially across immigrant, refugee, and multilingual audiences.Whether you're…

Meet Teresa Temu
I’m a multilingual educator, cultural strategist, and proud Columbus-based advocate. Originally from Eastern Europe and East Africa, I bring over a decade of experience in teaching, community engagement, and refugee support. My work is shaped by lived experience — as an immigrant, as a linguist, and as someone who believes language is power. I’ve partnered with schools, nonprofits, and civic leaders across Central Ohio.Rooted in The Columbus Way, I believe that true progress comes through collaboration, cultural humility, and building bridges between people and institutions.Highlights:Fluent in Swahili, Russian, French & EnglishLeadership in refugee education, victim services, and outreachMember of the Africa Day 2025 Planning CommitteeBased in Columbus, OH

01 — COMMUNITY OUTREACH & LANGUAGE ACCESS
You want to reach diverse, multilingual communities — but aren’t sure where to begin. I help you build real relationships, not just translations.
Support includes: outreach strategy, LEP messaging, grassroots partnerships, and culturally responsive event planning.
02 — Cultural Competency Training
Staff burnout, cultural missteps, or lack of trust from community partners? My trainings turn theory into real change — rooted in lived experience.
For teams working with African diaspora, refugee, and Eastern European communities.
03 — Cross-Cultural Facilitation & Messaging
You host events — but struggle to include voices from all communities. Let’s change that.
Services include: panel moderation, public forums, storytelling sessions, and multilingual content review for clarity and cultural tone.
04 — Mentorship for Heritage Educators
Outreach starts from within. I help aspiring cultural educators turn their knowledge into impact.
Ideal for: new instructors, language teachers, and community leaders teaching their heritage.
Trusted in community
Walking With, Not Just Speaking For
My work is grounded in real relationships — not just consulting gigs. I’ve worked side-by-side with Congolese, Somali, Afghan, Burundian, Ukrainian, and East African families right here in Central Ohio. Whether it’s planning cultural events, leading workshops, or just showing up — this work is personal.
I’ve sat in living rooms.
I’ve translated at hospitals.
I’ve taught cultural integration and ESL to refugees.
I’ve facilitated learning in Columbus public schools and the OSU.
I’ve helped city leaders listen more deeply.
I’ve practiced The Columbus Way — building trust through collaboration, humility, and showing up consistently.
This is not “target audience” work — this is community.
